Study: The Book of Philippians
Would your family and friends describe you as a person full of joy, peace and contentment at all times and in all circumstances? The church at Philippi, finding that Paul had been arrested and was in prison in Rome, was heart broken and worried about Paul. They sent him a gift by a man named Epaphhroditus. Paul dictates this letter to be sent back to Philippi with Epaphhroditus. The main theme of the letter can best be described as "rejoice always." Paul was a man with no home, no family, no job, not one possession not even a country and he was facing almost certain execution by Nero. Yet, he was overflowing with so much joy that he said for him "to live is Christ to die is gain" For the readers of every century since, the application question is "How can one rejoice always?"
Paul's letter to the Philippians is the answer to that question. It is not just a theological treatise, as so many treat it, but a letter of joy, peace, love and contentment manifested out of a soul transformed daily by the gospel of Jesus Christ. If you are interested in what the Word of God and the Holy Spirit can do in your life, join us each Sunday for fellowship and study of this great letter.
